2009
Well, we have hit the ground running this year. We have had the reenactor’s appreciation weekend and the Grand ball in Harrisburg already this year along with many meetings. Our Sibly tent is now up and ready to go. It has been up all this week and endured rain storms and wind storms and has come thru fine. We will be one of only a handful of units in the United States that have one. Our mortar is finally ready for final assembly. I have some issues putting it together, but have overcome them and we should be ready for our test firing on Saturday at our spring drill with our sister company—The Keystone Regiment. We have the Franklin Regional Middle school living history program coming up in May. This will be a huge event for us but with everyone’s help, I am confident we will do a great job and make history come alive for the students. We have some new members in our band and would like to welcome them and know they will make our unit better than ever. Our schedule is quite aggressive and I know all of us are looking forward to our biggest and best season ever. Let’s all remember, if this hobby is not fun and enjoyable, it is not worth doing --but I know all of our members in our group do not have to worry about that.

2008: 1st Year in Review:
As the 1st reenacting year for the Mason-Dixon Regiment comes to a close, it has exceeded my greatest expectations. We have organized into a great family orientated unit where everyone has come together to educate the public about the civil war, most of the time without them even knowing they have learned something. At the same time we were able to expand our own personal interests in this hobby. We have welcomed some new members that will be a great addition to our unit, but we need to get more people involved with us that share our vision on how this hobby should be -1st and foremost-have fun doing it
As we wrap up this year, I look at it as not ending the year, but going forward and expressing our ideas and making plans for 2009. You will probably hear from me more in the winter months as we press forward. Some of the items I hope to expand on next year are:
Creating our own artillery unit within the Mason-Dixon regiment
Expand our medical department
Expand our civilian impressions and displays
Expand the infantry numbers
Continue with the great strides our band has made this year
We have really been blessed in associating with Mike Gherrity and the great folks at the Keystone regiment. When we are together, our two groups complement each other and it makes us look like we have been together for years. When you have good friends like this, it makes the weekends even more enjoyable
I would also like to thank everyone for the effort they put into our 1st successful season. Whether we were doing union or confederate impressions, we did it well It is great to have a group of people that enjoy in getting involved and making it all look easy
